PROTOTYPING

Today, companies need to respond as quickly as possible to market changes, customer tastes and needs to become successful. The speed of product development is one of the most important points for success and Rapid Prototyping is one of the most important tools. Rapid prototyping not only allows you to quickly test the design hypothesis, and therefore quickly release the product to the market, but also reduce the cost of correcting errors that could only be detected at later stages of production.

Before launching the production of a new product, most manufacturing and engineering companies seek to conduct its preliminary testing. Rapid Prototyping allows you to solve this problem quickly and at minimal cost.

The production of prototypes or master models is the process of creating a so-called technical product sample that can be easily tested on the target audience. Its functionality, properties and other characteristics can be evaluated before starting small-scale or mass production. In addition, using a product prototype, allows also the creation of a reverse mold for casting.

By scope, prototypes are classified as follows

  • A presentation prototype is a layout of a city, a room, or a model of a house used in the field of architecture, interior and exterior design.
  • Industrial – a master model of the case, parts or spare parts used in industrial and manufacturing enterprises.
  • Commodity (product) prototype – a model of a product or a prototype of product packaging, usually used at exhibitions or presentations.
  • Transport – a three-dimensional model of a car, aircraft, bus, ship, rocket, etc., necessary in the space and transport industries.

Until recently, prototyping was a very complex process in which a product model was created from manual drawings and manual work.

However, with the advent of three-dimensional technologies, it became possible to quickly and efficiently create a prototype of a product of any complexity. Rapid Prototyping has taken a big step forward in the field of prototyping and the development of master models.

What should be the prototype?

 A good prototype should be:

  • Accurate
  • Functional
  • Made as fast as possible.

The maximum accuracy of the prototype is ensured by high-quality and professional 3D modelling, carried out in special programs for engineering three-dimensional graphics. To build a 3D model, all available graphics, drawings, and sketches, as well as technical documentation are used.

What technologies are used to quickly create the most accurate and high-quality prototypes?

  • 3D-printing
  • CNC machining
  • Vacuum casting
  • Laser cutting
  • Painting
  • Coating
  • Assembling
